Paper transport by ROAD – requirements and challengesThe delivery of paper and board from the mill to a printer or converter generally requires the use of road vehicles for all, or a part, of its journey. Road transport of paper rolls requires specific knowledge and this session allows the different participants along the supply chain to gain important insights into underestimated topic. In the webinar, Hendryck Mackowiak from transporter Pohl GmbH and Martin Gercke from Hylte Paper will highlight common practises, challenges and important insights to ensure paper in rolls are transported safely and economically to their final destination. Aspects will include the type of vehicles used, load patterns and their securing, along with sustainability.

Roll-to-Sheet productionThis webinar is for publication printers using sheetfed or commercial web offset, label and foil converters. While not new, Roll-to-Sheet feeders are not always a well-known option to improve production efficiency and lower costs, while providing opportunities for product diversification. Some web printers have invested in sheetfed perfectors using rolls for shorter run publications and special products; while some sheetfed printers are using them to optimise their publication printing costs and/or diversify to other applications. Feeding sheetfed presses from rolls is a hybrid technology that is particularly appropriate for presses using relatively large quantities of a limited range of paper weights and grades. This technology provides uninterrupted printing at higher speeds, particularly on lightweight papers down to 35 gsm, and to process substrates like foils and plastic film that are available only on rolls. The speakers will be Daniel Siegel, UPM Manager Technical Customer Service and Markus Hoefer, Senior Manager Segment Management Label from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen.
